Lumecca IPL

Lumecca is a powerful IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment designed to address various skin concerns.

Here are some common questions we receive from our patients about Lumecca:

General Information

  1. What Is Lumecca?

Lumecca is an advanced Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment that targets pigmentation, vascular lesions, and skin irregularities to provide a clearer, more youthful complexion.

2. How Does Lumecca Work?

Lumecca uses broad-spectrum light specifically 515nm or 580nm to penetrate the skin, targeting melanin and haemoglobin in pigmented and vascular lesions. This process reduces the appearance of pigmentations, freckles, sunspots, age spots and redness.

3. What Areas Can Be Treated with Lumecca?

Lumecca can treat various areas, including the face, neck, décolletage, hands, arms, and legs, effectively improving skin tone and texture.

Treatment and Results

4. What Should I Expect During the Treatment?

During the procedure, a cooling gel is applied to the treatment area for comfort. The Lumecca handpiece is then used to deliver pulses of light. Each session typically lasts 20 to 30 minutes.

5. Is the Treatment Painful?

Most patients describe the sensation as similar to a light snap of a rubber band. Any discomfort is minimal and temporary, thanks to the cooling gel and the device's built-in cooling system.

6. How Many Sessions Are Needed?

The number of sessions varies depending on individual skin concerns and goals. Typically, 1 to 3 sessions are recommended for optimal results.

7. When Will I See Results?

Visible improvements can be seen after the first session, with the most significant results appearing after a series of treatments. Skin continues to improve over the following weeks as the body clears away the targeted pigment.

Post-Treatment Care

8. What Is the Downtime After Lumecca?

Downtime is minimal. You may experience slight redness and a warm sensation similar to a mild sunburn for a few hours post-treatment. Normal activities can usually be resumed immediately.

9. Are There Any Side Effects?

Side effects are generally mild and temporary, including redness, swelling, and darkening of pigmented spots as they begin to clear. These effects typically resolve within a few days.

10. What Should I Do After the Treatment?

Avoid direct sun exposure, using SPF 50+ sunscreen, and applying soothing skincare products to protect the treated area.

Suitability and Safety

11. Who Is a Good Candidate for Lumecca?

Lumecca is suitable for most skin types Fitzpatrick I-IV. Ideal candidates are individuals looking to address sun damage, pigmentation, redness, and other skin imperfections without invasive procedures.

12. Is Lumecca Safe for All Skin Types?

Lumecca is safe for skin types Fitzpatrick I-IV. However, it is essential to have a consultation to determine if Lumecca is suitable for your specific skin type and concerns.
